Video of the finished altered bottles

Well the online workshop is coming to an end at midnight.
It has been truly amazing and have been shocked by everyone's talent so I decided to make a little video containing some of the finished bottles.

This workshop has been so enjoyable for me that I am going to repeat it in January!  Details can be found by clicking on the online workshop tab just below the header of this blog.

I am also working on a new course which is currently under construction that I am very excited about! More details on that soon..
Anyway without further ado here is the video…….please please add a like if you enjoy it and delegates feel free to share this video on your blogs!

Warning…. I have Big Shot & know how to use it!

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share yesterdays workshop at the Craft Barn with you.
The theme was steampunk fusion and the item to be altered was one of the wooden mirrors.

I have been experimenting with this technique recently by incorporating embossed card using my Sizzix Big Shot so I took it along with me.
Here is a quick box frame I made to take along as a sample using this method.

Here are some images of the finished mirrors from the workshop, thanks Sam.
Apologies for the image quality, it's all my fault and they do not do the pieces full justice.
White card was placed in the mirror section to stop the glare when taking the photo's but I'm sure you will get the idea..

Who's that strange person with their tongue sticking out?!… It's a good job I'm not vein isn't it…..Hold on is that a hair out of place??…Damn!

Blogger Dynamic View and gadgets

I'm not sure if any of you bloggers have tried the new dynamic view introduced by blogger?
Just had a try this morning and they are amazing! Much quicker to navigate and they look very fresh and clean.

Unfortunately I will not be using them yet,  the only reason for this is because there is no support for our gadgets/widgets etc although Blogger say that they are working on this now.
There also seems to be no support for language translation as yet.

Warning :  If you do apply the new dynamic view to your blogger it will loose all your gadgets and header, this can be easily remedied by clicking on return to previous template on the template design menu at the top.

Here is a video of the new look.

Jack Daniels Steampunked!

My latest altered bottle is a small Jack Daniels one in which I made a small oval window to the front and stuck an image of a skeleton on the back of the bottle before painting.
My hope was that if I light shone through the top you would be able to see the image…It kind of worked!

A day off and Bahrain

Hi all,
I have taken a day off today so that I can be available to deal with any problems on the first day of the online workshop, so far so good and everything seems to be running smoothly..

Exciting news came through this morning……  I have been invited back to Manama in Bahrain to teach workshops in January and February at Studio Ceramics .
I was there last year and thoroughly enjoyed myself so this time I am going to extend my stay for a further week and take a holiday as it's been over five years since my last one!

Here is a link to last years visit… Greetings from Bahrain and you can view some of the photo's I took here Bahrain Album 2010

Not much artwork to show today but I will leave you a sneaky peak at my new Halloween project that's now underway.

My Steampunk Camera

I was very honoured when asked to be guest artist this month over at Alter It Monthly.
The theme for the month of October is alter a box.. jewellery box, gift box, shoe box..... any box you can find... with or without a lid.. and any shape as long as its a container. I decided to come up with something a little different,  I've had this mobile phone box lying around for a while that was just begging to be altered!

Introducing my Steam powered Steampunk Cine Camera, made completely from old junk and decorated with Decoart Americana acrylic paint!

The inner workings were made up from parts recovered from a scrapyard, combined with an old Airfix model which I found in a charity shop and of course….. I just had to install an LED light in there!!

Why not head over to Alter It Monthly and join in the challenge!
