Altered Flying Machine

Before I start a quick hello to everyone on the Tando Clock workshop yesterday held at Paper Arts in Stroud, all of you made absolutely amazing pieces.

I took two days out last week to create something just for the fun of it, this little lady all started with a papier Mache heart box and an old porcelain doll from a charity shop.

I decided to alter the dolls head first and then everything else would follow on from that.

The glass eyes were removed and nuts were glued onto her forehead with rusted wire protruding from there centres, this was followed by a few paint techniques and then left to dry.
I glued one of the eyes back in and fitted an LED light into the other eye socket, finely I painted and mounted a toy propeller onto an old circuit board from a mouse to go onto the top of her head.

The rest then all seemed to come together, this is a mix of found objects along with some new , you may recognise the mount on which the rear propeller is fitted as a foundations metal box foot from the idea-ology range.

And the pulley wheels from the same range which were the only parts left unpainted.

  6. It's strangely compelling, and reminds me of one of the dolls from Toy Story (the one in Sid's house -- the house of horrors).
