Take an acrylic stamp block, place an image on the back and start layering with sheets of collaged and inked shrink plastic, finally finish of with a sheet of mica!
This is very hard to photograph and its difficult to see the depth but there are four layers of shrink plastic on top of the block.
Who is the girl?? as fas as I know she was an Australian convict back in the 1920's.

Wow! That looks great.....question..did you shrink the shrink plastic or just use as is? Is hard to tell from pic. Like the idea of using the acrylic block.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, used it as it is and put four eyelets into each sheet, drilled very small holes, slightly smaller that the width of my upholstery nails into the block. I fixed them all together by pushing the upholstery nails through the eyelets and into the drilled holes........hope that makes sense :)
DeleteCould you use acetate Andy?
ReplyDeleteI should think so, I clean the shrink plastic to remove finger print marks with blending solution... Not sure if that would react with acetate but worth a go.
Deletelooks great!

I'm going to have to say wow as I think this is gorgeous Andy. Sue asked my question so glad I looked at the other comments. That picture looks a lot like me when I was young but I'm not that old so it's not me!!
