Gelli Printing... A different approach

I tried something a little different with my Gelli plate today and thought I would video the process.
This is the finished piece from the video called "After the Storm"  The doorway however was added on the right as an after thought.
As you will see in the video I placed a rough sketch of the composition underneath the Gelli plate first and  also cut a couple of custom masks from acetate.
Normally I build up my prints with lots of thin translucent layers but for this I applied the paint heavier, often covering much of the layer beneath and painting in my warm and cool tones with the brayer directly onto the plate.

Here is the video, sorry its hard sometimes to see the prints coming off the plate but the video was too long and I had to speed it up!

  10. love the techniques..a glass cutting board is awesome for the texture effect nice,I have two blogs one for my DT work with smeared ink called lilyandthelotus.blogspot.com and one for mixed media i am just warming up to called themanyallysofallywhitecat.com I need to get more free willed like you are lol
