Last Gelli before Christmas
Its time to put the paints and inks away, tidy my work area and start wrapping presents.... its harder said than done as I tend to be one of these people that once an idea comes, be it 3am in the morning I feel compelled to start there an then!
This will not be my last post before xmas but the last one with any artwork.... I hope :)
For those who have asked a new date has now been set in 2013 for The Evil Elixer Mixer Workshop on February 1st, details can be found here
Also Timeworn and The book of secrets start again on January 5th 2013
The Gelli plate has now been put away :( but here are my last two prints.
Right..... back to the wrapping, I actually enjoy it :)

Using a Gelli Plate with Acetate
Had a go using my Gelli plate with a piece of acetate today, with this method you are kind of working backwards so you have to train your mind with the process...
The picture really does not do this justice as the metal leaf absolutely radiates through the acrylic layers.
The Skull was first stencilled on with Black acrylic, the barbed wire, cogs, code and splats were stamped with black Stazon.
White acrylic was then painted within the scull area.
It was then time for the Gelli plate, Traditions in Raw Sienna, Quinacridone Burnt Orange, and a mix of Prussian Blue and White.
I then applied metal leaf to the reverse.
Finally I finished with acrylic in Aquamarine, Blue Green, Red Violet and White
I am loving this Gelli Printing Plate :)

Fun with Gelli!
So here are my first attempts, colours on the first one are in this order,
- Traditions Indian Yellow
- " Quinacridrone Violet
- Cyan Blue
- Traditions Sapphire blue (thinned with glazing medium)
I can see me having lots of fun with this :)
Finally, this piece is not using the Gelli Plate but is acrylic on watercolour paper, with more new stencils.
Thanks for reading and hope you like the stencils thus far!

The Man in the Moon
The Man in the Moon took another mug,
and then rolled beneath his chair;
And there he dozed and dreamed of ale,
Till in the sky the stars were pale
and dawn was in the air.
Let me introduce you to my Man in the Moon, a kind of altered art mini assemblage.
This all started of with a plastic ball, a zip from a pair of jeans, an old box frame and a glass eye.

Of course I had to add a light somewhere... so I decided to illuminate the glass eye!
Lots of fun doing this one, hope you like it.
Lights off...
Lights on!

Industrial Mixed media stix 2 workshop
Well after three days, 400 miles of driving on our mad roads, two demonstrations and two workshops I am now back home to a pile of paperwork.
Hello to everyone I met at BarjanB Crafts on Friday, such a friendly bunch and I was very well looked after by Barry and Maureen so thank you.
On Saturday I went down to the Craft barn for a demonstration, this book which I made on the day I have called the book of evolution because it went from acrylic paint to spray dies... these were a little too bright for my liking so it was back to washes of acrylic over the top, dry brushing and then archival ink.
This morning I was still unhappy with it so the paint was back out again!.... Kinda like it now :)
I had a great day on Sunday holding my first Stix 2 workshop.
We used Stix 2 Texture Mounting sheets which I had pre-printed a background design onto, so everyone started of with the same background, here are their finished paintings all now very individual!
Thanks for reading,
Andy
