Mixed media journal cover by Monika Maksym

Hi all!
It's Monika here, today I would like to share this fun and quick project made using your favourite Andy Skinner's stamps and of course Decoart products.

To start with, I've primed my journal cover with black gesso. For this project I've used Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics in Metallic Gold, Primary Yellow and Decoart Americana Premium Acrylics in Yellow Green Light and Sap Green.
I've squeezed a few dots of paint on the craft mat and started rolling my brayer to get an even, thin coat, then run it through the surface. I've repeated this step with all of the colours few times until I was satisfied with the background. i've also added a light wash of Burnt Umber around the edges and book plate which was painted in gold first.

Once your background was dry I've stamped my choosen images and words using black Archival Ink.

These embellishments were made with Shrink paper (stamp, cut out, shrink and tint with media fluid wash)

Decoart Heavy Gel Medium was used to stick the metal pull to the cover and little book plate at the bottom.

Thank You for stopping by, I hope You've enjoyed my post.

Monika, x

Ammonit Box using the new Andy Skinner Fossil stamp set and Stampendous Enamels

Hi all

Another teaser for you; a project made using Andy's fantastic new stamp range. The good news is it is being released THIS WEEKEND and when they are finally available you can get them here!

Here is the finished project and below is a brief outline of how I created it.
I painted the box lid and base. Triple embossed the lid using Stampendous Enamels, and stamped into the lid while the enamels were still molten.
Once cooled, I used DecoArt white antiquing cream, paints and metallic lustres to give depth to the ammonite. I love it - very touchable! Hope you like it too. For a detailed step by step, have a look at my blog.
Thanks
Suz

FUN WITH FOSSIL FISH AND FRIENDS

Hello again and welcome back!

Today I am sharing with you a very sturdy tag I've created using elements from an all new Andy Skinner Manufactured by Tando Creative's Tagtastic Set coupled with Andy's new Fossil Stamp set from Stampendous

This Fossil Stamp set is all the rage!  There are shells, a fern leaf, a cute little froggie and the very detailed and delightful fish. This stamp has so many possibilities; from stamping with ink to stamping into modeling paste to create a real fossil look.

I smeared DecoArt Media Modeling Paste onto this smaller laser cut tag from Tando Creative.  I heat set the Modeling Paste to almost but not quite dry. Then I spritzed the frog stamp with water and pressed it into the almost dry modeling paste.  This created the fossilized look onto the tag.  Next I colorized the tag using various DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics paint colors.  I then stamped the frog image onto a piece of white tissue paper, tore around the edges and using DecoArt's Matte Medium, I glued and sealed the stamped frog image in place over the fossilized area on the tag.

The smaller tag is attached to the larger tag with another of Tando Creative's wonderful pieces from this tag set; the cogs and wheels. Using a variation of Andy's rust techniques; this "metal" cog looks very old and rusty with a touch of patina.

Also, notice the beautiful crackling effect of the background.  This was done using DecoArt's Media Crackle Paint on the base and then colorized with various Media Fluid Acrylics colors.

This fish!  This fish!  I love this fish!  It' so detailed and a wonderful size for all sorts of mixed media projects! As a finishing touch, I added small bits of Stampendous Frantage Pealized Mica Fragments.
