Winter Wellies Money Box

I attempted embossing onto bisque yesterday on a wellington boot money box and it worked like a dream!   A coat of Americana Light Buttermilk was applied and the sole painted with Hauser mid green. Once dry I stamped on the flowers with versa colour inks. The flowers where then sprinkled with clear embossing powder and melted with a heat tool.

The embossing powder melted quickly, I was worried it may run but it stayed in position perfectly.

.All I need now is some money to put in it!!

Cath Kidston Stylee

I came across some Cath Kidston napkins in Cargo this week and thought I would have a go at napkin decor onto some pottery items using Decoart Clear Coat Patio Paint.
Below are my first attempts.
Apologies for the quality of the pictures, I only had my phone camera!
Napkin Decor
I first base coated the money box with gold acrylic. Once dry I applied a coat of Decoart Weathered wood. It was then left to dry for one hour. You can speed up the drying process with a heat tool.
Terrimundi gold
A coat of Decoart Blue Spa was then applied. Immediately the cracks started to appear revealing the gold laying beneath. I then stamped the moneybox with Black Stazon ink.

Next job was to cut out the strawberries from the napkin and separate the napkin ply. I only want to use the imprinted part.

Clear Coat was then applied to the area on the moneybox where I wanted the strawberries.  The design was then adhered to the coated surface before it dried.

Once all the strawberries were in place the piece was finished with a final coat of Clear Coat.

Going Round the Bend

Today I wanted to show that stamping curved surfaces is not too difficult using Cling-mounted stamps. Looking through our catalogue of pottery shapes, one item that really stood out for it’s curves was the Terramundi money box.

Terramundi pots have a history and tradition behind them, it is considered unlucky to break Terramundi pots before they are full so that you are unlikely to give in to temptation. If, on the other hand, you keep your Terramundi pots intact until the final coin goes in then the belief is that they will bring you luck.

I base coated the Terramundi with Americana Desert Turquoise. Once dry I began to dry brush with Turquoise Blue and Spa blue, I wanted to bring out the natural texture of the pottery using this method.

This close-up picture shows the dry brush effect.

Next I sealed the acrylic background with Americana Matte spray sealer before stamping the flowers with Midnight Black Versamagic Archival chalk pigment ink. If a mistake is made while stamping, the ink will easily wipe off the surface with a damp sponge.

Americana Titanium White was then dry brushed onto the petals. Detail was added using Decoart Glorious Gold dazzling metallic’s and the Terramundi was given a final coat of matte sealer to finish.

The tag was made from stamped earthenware clay, it was then decorated with Americana Dazzling Metallics and Glass Stains.
