Andy Skinner: Patina Grunge Tag Art by Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona Here with a Patina Grunge piece of Tag Art. To create this piece I used a number of elements from Andy's Fabulous Greyboard kits Tagtasic 2, Industrial Elements and Flaming Hearts which can be found in Andy's online store HERE as well as a piece of Tando Greyboard for the base which I cut to size and is available to purchase from HERE.

To start I concentrated on the base first applying Tinting base before applying colour with Titan Buff and Raw Umber blending the colours with a baby wipe, next came stamping using my favourite stamp from Andy's Texures Stamp Set with potting soil Archival Ink. Crackle glaze was then applied and when dry Antiquing cream in Raw Umber was applied and wiped back to reveal the cracks and a coat of Ultra Matte Varnish applied to seal and protect.

Texture sand paste was applied to the cogs and frame. Andys' Rust Treatment was applied to the cogs then set aside. The Tag and the frame were then coated with Raw Umber and when dry Patina Vintage effects Wash applied and wiped back.

The tag was the stamped with the textures stamp in Watering can Archival Ink. The inner piece of the frame had text paper applied and a dirty wash applied to age it before giving it a coat of crackle medium and when dry applying Antiquing cream in Raw Umber then wiping back to reveal the cracks.

The Flaming Heart was then assembled and given the same treatment as the tag and frame. A quote was applied inside the heart before filling the recess with Triple Thick Glaze. All Elements apart from the cogs were the swiped with Metallic Lustre in Iced Espresso and buffed to a shine.

All elements were then assembled onto the base board using off cuts of grey board to give dimension and depth. Rusty Wire was wound round a slim pencil to create springs and attached to finish.
