Altered Journals By Heather Thompson

Here are more journals I promised. I made these for the girls at work. I always have a variety of things laying around. I have chipboard started, tags started, bits and bobs laying around. I had a number of projects started and set aside waiting for more time to finish. Waiting for things to dry and then getting sidetracked on to another project. So I gathered up a variety of products and paints and put together with some heart and soul.

This journal was made with a tag I was working on. I love the colours on the background. Very bold and bright. The large gear is from the Industrial Set. I wrapped some rusty wire around the gear and actually never finished wrapping it. The heart fit perfectly on the gear.

I added some antique paper from the late 1800's on the background and a discover title on the placard.

Here are a few close-ups of this cover.

I add some background crackle on the base of the journal to match the tag that I never ended up finishing.

This is another journal cover I made with lots of Andy's industrial elements. The featured element is the "So Call Me Already" and the Industrial shabby tag kit.

Lots of background texture and paste with the Structure Paste. And more rusty elements to make the focal point.

Using the other dial from the "So Call Me Already" set.

And the third journal was made with the Industrial Shabby Tag Kit and Industrial Elements. Same type of background, a thick layer of pastes befrore adding colour. And rust elements with paint.

I added other scrapes and the Call Me Already.

Layers of paints, stamping and shading. Here are a few more close-ups. Enjoy!

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you enjoy! Stay creative~!

Cog Compendium - Fiona Randall

Morning all today I'm sharing a grungy steam punk Wall  Art piece using Andy's Compendium Kit.

I started by applying embossed cardstock to the MDF base from the kit and then applied a base coat of DecoArt Raw Umber Media Fluid Acrylic. Burnished Brass Metallic Lustre was then applied to the base to highlight the embossed design and also swiped along the edges for definition then buffed to a shine. Watered down  Patina Antiquing Cream was then spattered across the base then repeated with Titanium White and Metallic Gold Media Fluid Acrylics.

The cogs and bookplate all had DecoArt Texture sand paste applied and set aside to dry. DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Metallic Gold was applied to the clock face then a coat of DecoArt Antiquing cream in black was applied and wiped back to give an aged and tarnished effect. The same treatment was applied to the two large cogs, small cog, porthole, bookplate and bolts and screw heads. The remaining large cog and three medium cogs were given Andy's rust technique.

All elements were then assembled onto the  base and spattered with watered down Patina Antiquing Cream.
Finally the word TIME from Andy's Illusionary Artists Word Up and Numbers stamp set was stamped onto card and attached to the back of the bookplate then attached to the base.

This is a great little kit and I haven't used all the elements it contained. So plenty left over for another project.

Close up Detail.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today.
Fiona.

Gone Fishing By Heather Thompson

Well this might be a first. A scrapbooking page up on the Andy Skinner Blog....Well....why not right. I wanted to show how not only are Andy's Grey board kits great for mixed media, altered art and everything else in-between. But a scrapbooking page as well.
IMG_5027
I started out with some photos of my boy, knowing how much he loves fishing I decided to put the Scrap Metal Fish and Heart to use.
IMG_5035
Using the Mish Mash Stencil on the background with some crackle past from DecoArt, I started on the background. After that was all dried, I used the Distress Diamond Stencil.
IMG_5033
Moving on the the heart and the fish, I had a awesome paper pack that had lots of metal and industrial elements on it. I added an adhesive to the back of the grey board, and used various papers to get a patchwork effect. after cutting them all back out, I put on the base of the fish.
IMG_5032
I topped them all off with some DecoArt Crackle Glaze.
IMG_5022
I added a little extra flair using some old baits from Late Grandpa Larry's stash.  Along with hooks and netting.

Grungy Canvas Board - Brenda Brown

Hi, Brenda here with a 'Handle With Care' project. I love creating timeworn, shabby and vintage styles and often the genres get mixed up when I'm experimenting or playing with new ideas. Although this has an Andy vibe where I've used his images and products I think this has more of a grungy shabby appeal. I just love mixing it all up to create something a little different.

This is a layered chipboard design with industrial wings, layered with a greyboard pane and a greyboard medallion, so you can imagine the height of the three together.

The bird was embossed in black and coloured in before I did the background using the brow, black and cream palette of colours.

The industrial wings have been textured and given that rusty timeworn appearance.

The medallion was created with a greyboard circle and triple embossed with aged silver and stamped with cobalt archival ink. Check out Andy's Curiosity set of stamps to find the design.

The background has that real shabby feel to it with the neutral colours.

I often add an easel to a smaller panel so the project can stand on a shelf.

There are more photos and details over on my blog.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sacred Heart Tags

Now that the infamous Andy Skinner Creative Team and the fearless leader himself, has made it back from Stitches all in one peice. I am sharing two of the pieces that I made for the show. This was made with the Andy's Sacred Heart Kit. Instead of keeping the kit together, I (like always) decontruct it and actually made two separated pieces with the collection along, with a few added elements from Andy's Industrial Elements Kits. Presenting the first piece is "Ray of Love" IMG_1274

Incombonation with the new stamps from Stampendous and the Illustionary Artists.

The other piece titled "Gothic Wings" was inspired by one of Andy's older stamps sets "Handle with Care". I actually made a mould out of the stamp and cast a resin mould for the three dimensional wings for the tag.
