With Faith comes Hope

On Saturday I was demonstrating at the Craft Barn where I started work on a Papier Mache picture frame as a gift for my daughter Jade.
The picture is my Grandaughter Faith, although she is a little older now I do love this photo of her.

The frame has card stuck down on the surface that was first embossed with a selection of Tim Holtz texture fades before painting with acrylic paint.

The letters were die cut using the Tim Holtz Wordplay die and then given a rust effect.

It was then finished of with a few idea-ology embellishment's before adding the photo

Over on the outcasts workshop there is some fantastic pieces being produced, this plaster artwork below was made by Jools called the green goddess aka Ellalouise as she has been affectionately named and stands approx 80cm high, isn't it stunning!

I am not sure if Keren has a blog but believe it or not this treasure chest has been constructed from old recycled cardboard!

Now we have the very talented Sue Roddis who has made this amazing assemblage pictured  below.

You will find more pictures and details on how Sue constructed this over at her blog  Jabberwocky

Finally one more for now and its Shirley's entry.

It's amazing how Shirley has managed to include so many of the techniques from Timeworn into this one piece!

Dieselpunk Tags

Here are a couple of Tags made with the Americana Gloss spray sealer image transfer technique, here is a link to my video for that technique Image transfer video
diesalpunk-tag2

diesalpunk-tag

I wanted the tags to have a Dieselpunk style, if you have never heard of Dieselpunk here is a brief description I found on Dieselpunks.org
Dieselpunk is a style that blends the art and culture of the 1920s - 1950s with today.
The era we look to for inspiration was defined by movement and revolution: jazz, modern art, world wars, streamlined technology, and an evolution from stilted, Victorian-era hypocrisy. Our goal is to shape a better future for ourselves by merging the zeitgeist of the past with today's technology and attitudes.

I will leave you with my new Outcasts video, upon making it I miss counted how many hours of video are on the workshop… its now close to 9 hours!!

The next is food for thought!

Kits now online!

Yesterday afternoon I made a few embellishments along with some Christmas decorations in order to make a video for the upcoming Outcasts workshop.
The first picture is of the decorations which measure 7cm x 12cm, now by my rough calculations these cost me roughly 30 pence to make all 12!!

DSC_0018

Next are some cast embellishment's, over 60 in total, these cost me approximately £1 now that's what I call a bargain!!

DSC_0019

This workshop now has over 4 hours of video and increasing all the time, it has proven to be a mammoth job but well worth it just for the amount of money I have saved on embellishments lol!

I sent out a workshop newsletter yesterday to everyone subscribed letting them know The Craft Barn are now taking orders for the Outcasts Kits by phone but I am happy to say they are now on their website, the kits are £24.00 plus postage, for more details please click the picture below.

Finally here is another cast wall hanging arched shrine measuring 28cm x 17.5cm which I painted with a patina effect.

Right off to make more embellishments!!

Industrial Shabby

Below is a picture frame which has been cast for the Outcasts Workshop,  I have been working on new paint effects recently, toning down from good old raw rust to more of an industrial look with Shabby undertones… does that even make sense??… it does in my head anyway :)

andy skinner industrial page

Next up is a little sketch which has been coloured with Traditions translucent and semi translucent acrylic's to give a water colour effect, I am going to play with this effect a little more I think!

Books Glorious Books!

Why are books such good fun to alter?… or is it just me?  Maybe it's because they serve a purpose.

Here are a few I have been playing around with.

This one contains techniques from the Outcasts workshop, the cover has been textured with plaster and the paint technique shows you how to get that magical inner glow!

plaster-jounal1

Next up are three books, far right has paint washes and image transfer using matte medium, the book on the left with the mechanical bird has techniques from The Book of Secrets with a new paint technique featured on The Outcasts.

The Outcasts

Introducing to you.. The Excavation!

andy-skinner-Excavation

I have been casting and teaching casting methods for over 12 years now, mainly in the keepsake industry with children's hand and foot prints.
Over the years I have built up a plethora of techniques for doing this, some of which have been used in this wall hanging.

andy-skinner-Excavation-f

Now before I get any hate mail accusing me of working for Satan himself because I have used skulls on this project, I want you to know that these techniques can work just as well with flowers, cuddly bears and fairies etc….. lol

andy-skinner-Excavation-a

I am very excited to announce that these techniques are going to be part of a brand new online workshop called The Outcasts which will start in September and will be a LIFETIME workshop… Yes you read right… Lifetime!! meaning you get access for life!!  Forum support will only be there for the first 5 weeks, anyone signing up thereafter will get access to everything apart from me annoying them and cracking my whip on the forum :)

andy-skinner-Excavation-b

Details of this new workshop will be released hopefully within the next week.

Have a good day,
