So Call Me, Maybe? by Hannah Oxberry

Hi all, welcome to my post for February - given that Valentines' is just around the corner I thought I would share with you a grungy heart project!

Hearts feature a lot in my work. I like the meanings you can convey by using a heart in your design. I have produced a range of similar designs along this same style as I am drawn to creating subtle differences using new techniques.

The heart substrate has been layered with resist and crackle techniques to give a truly weather worn look. Industrial style stamps from Andy's Illusionary Artists and Stampendous collections, offer another texture, while the rusted bolts pull the design together.

The main focus of this project is the retro phone dial, this I have textured with paint before adding washes to tone down the colours. A little textured heart to the centre of the dial emphasises the theme running through this project.
