"FEAR" Altered 3 D-Shrine By Heather Thompson

Welcome to the Spooktacular Event with Creative Expressions UK. The Team over at Andy Skinner has joined in the fun and mayhem with some crazy creepy projects.

This is an actually bird skull that the kids and I found in the yard, And if any of you know my daughter she is totally into all likes of crazy and creepy things.

Here is the schedule of events for Creative Expressions. So each week make something that relates to the below themes. At the end of each week, CE will pick a winner. Don't forget to hash tag you entry! #CEspooktober

Here is a short video of the creative process.

I decided to make a shrine to showcase the actually skull and go along with the theme this week. Using the strata paste to add a texture and feel of an old rugged building, I lathered a fair amount on the roof.

I had some smaller pedistoles and glass shrines in my stash. I added some texture paste and colour to resemble stone.

Using the shine to showcase I altered it with the restist paste and painted, topping off the effects with the background stamp.

Watch out for more spooktacular inspiration to come all month long, and join in the mayhem and get creative.

Visit the Creative Expressions Mixed Media Facebook Page and #CEspooktober your entires.

Mini Album By Heather Thompson

Welcome to another mixed media project for Andy Skinner. This is a mini album I made for Andy. We always have such a great time when we get together with Andy, either its jumping the pond or here on our turf. And I think it is great how much love of life is in the air when Andy is around. I love the books from Tando. This was a little bit of grunge and a lot of texture. I will spare you the inside photos. (Some could be used for blackmail, lol). They will come out when least expected. Andy Skinner Ring Binder
There is always a lot of blending and texture when I work on Andy's projects. I enjoy getting lost in the pigments and the brush strokes.

Using various elements from the industrial elements set and Di's textured shapes, I did layered the background up with all of my favourite crackle and rust. Between the gears which is very Andy and the heart which is really how we all feel about him, I wanted something that came from the heart.

Between the texture glaze and crackle paint, I love the aged, vintage look the book took. And you can never go wrong with Quinn Gold and Payne's Grey for some shading.

I wanted a closure that was Andy, Using rusty wire and a nut and bolt from the Industrial Elements Set, I finagled it to work. It just adds to the project.

I will give you a little sneak peak of some of the blackmail material I have of Andy. Until the next Andy adventure. Thank you for stopping by.

"Dare" Altered Arch with Starta Paste By Heather Thompson

Hello everyone, I would love to share a creative altered arch made with the new release from Andy Skinner and Creative Expressions. This new product is so much fun and it gives so much texture and details. Just brilliant how these new pastes work.

Andy Skinner Dare.jpg

I made a creative video for you of the process, sometimes I dont know where or how I will get to the finished project. Sometimes it takes days to finish, sometimes it ends up in the bin, and as you see in the video, I start with one idea and end up with another with the impression of the Buffalo Stance.
Here are a few close-ups for you.

The new Strata Paste is amazing for adding a texture you just want to touch.

The resist paste works in so many ways. I used it to add more dimension to the word banner.

Portal to The Unexplained Altered Book

I loved messing around with altered art. I want to share a interesting and creative Altered book. To access the unexplained the variety of cogs and gears must be manipulated to open the portal. Unlike other books this book opens differently. Protal Front Cover.jpg
From afar, I wanted the viewer to see the differently elements protruding, almost trying to escape from the gateway from beyond, to draw them closer. Once closer, I wanted to focus on the portal itself. My goal was to make the viewer want to venture into the distance, into the unknown realm within the book. Portal Close-up

Portal Binding

To open "The Unexplained", the various cogs and gears must be manipulated to unlock the portal, which then allows the user to dive into the unknown.  With peaked interest and curiosity, the viewer is now emerged completely within "The Unexplained".

Portal Open Portal

It is unexplained, the primal drive we have to go further and further into the unknown. The risk we take to explore further in to the depths of our art and our passions.

  Open-Portal.jpg

Once inside, the viewer is still curious by protrusions of the unexplained emerging from within the book. Drawing us further and further into the deep depths of the unknown.

  Portal inside

It spikes our interest and we dive deeper with in our imagination and with the art in front of us.

" Chained And Geared" By Heather Thompson

I am back after a fabulous holiday with so many great friends. After a very creative weekend with the crew at Ministry of Mixology, I jumped right in creating when I landed on home soil.
IMG_3577
I created a gear filled, rusted mechanical assemble, "Chained and Geared" and totally ready to go.
I  love this tag, I love how it has the illusion of actually working cogs and gears.
IMG_3590
Using rusty wire, I anchored the chain down in order to work around the gears and keep things where they ought to be.
IMG_3587
I have already thought about expanding this tag, and continuing the theme all the way around the backside of the tag. How cool would that be? A 3-D tag.......oh the possibilities.

So stay tuned for phase 2 of the evolution of the tag.

Sacred Heart Tags

Now that the infamous Andy Skinner Creative Team and the fearless leader himself, has made it back from Stitches all in one peice. I am sharing two of the pieces that I made for the show. This was made with the Andy's Sacred Heart Kit. Instead of keeping the kit together, I (like always) decontruct it and actually made two separated pieces with the collection along, with a few added elements from Andy's Industrial Elements Kits. Presenting the first piece is "Ray of Love" IMG_1274

Incombonation with the new stamps from Stampendous and the Illustionary Artists.

  IMG_1272

The other piece titled "Gothic Wings" was inspired by one of Andy's older stamps sets "Handle with Care". I actually made a mould out of the stamp and cast a resin mould for the three dimensional wings for the tag.
