'Tagtastic' Eternal Tag by Nikki K.

Good Morning all,

I'm really happy to be on Andy's blog today sharing a tag I made in blues and greens, with just a touch of Rust.  The tag is from Andy's Tagtastic Kit, and I wanted to give it a different look.

I embossed the tag with a script embossing folder firstly, then painted it white.  On top of this I added several colours of blue-greens, in layers and washes, to build up the background.  Some Patina Antiquing Cream was splashed over to give a matt aspect.

I used one of Andy's stamps, Texture, to stamp the background with, and also some script.

The Heart was given a similar treatment to the background, layering colours and stamping, and then each piece was edged in white to give definition.

The bolts, screws and book plate were given a rust treatment, and then antiqued.  I ran some white round the edge of the tag with my finger.  A bit of rusty wire was added as a little hanger, which I kind of bent into the top of a heart shape.  The label was stamped and aged with a wash of colour.

Morning all, Mark here an I have a couple of quick and easy tags to share today where I have mainly been playing with some of Andy's stamps.

I have used a couple of Mdf tags and applied some patterned papers I had made using my Gel Plate and Decoart Media Fluids along with some of Andy's stencils.

For the skull tag I used a back ground paper where I have used Andy's Fossil stencil, It put me in mind of some tie dye fabric and with the skull it felt very Grateful Dead and psychedelic. 

The Devil tag was layered stamping, the bird skull was stamped with an orange archival ink and the devil himself was colored in with a red Copic marker.

   The bird skull was a charm I picked up at a craft fair and was aged using some Decoart Antiquing cream.

Tech Trauma Wall Art

For this project I combined Andy's gorgeous Tech Trauma stamps with Stampendous

Embossing powders on a brayered background and made myself a little bit of wall art!

Below is a pic of the framed piece, another close up where I've tried to show the bling,

and a brief description of how it came together! 

 The finished artwork I've popped into an Ikea box frame.

I made my own mount as theirs was too small, full details and a few more pics here!

It's a bit moody but still sparkles!!! 

 First brayer a nice thick layer of DecoArt White Gesso - love this gesso as it is a fabulously

thick consistency so that gives all the layers to come a great, textured base. After the Gesso

I layered up all the paints listed below, going back in with more layers

until I was happy with the coverage and colours.

Once all the paint was dry I then did some random background stamping with my

'feature stamp' which I did upside down.

I can get away with it being that way up because this is such a textured piece;

the detailed writing part of the stamp kinda gets lost in the background and is not defined enough for you to see the text is upside down, (though the writing shows beautifully on less lumpy surfaces).

 I triple embossed with 3 types of powders from the Stampendous Encrusted Jewel set.

On the final layer I have my inked stamp ready and quickly press it into the melted

powders really firmly while they are still molten.

I hadn't let the paper fully dry when I heated the embossing powder, so

it buckled a bit. but once all the embossing powders were fully cooled

I just stuck it under some heavy books and it was fine!

DO YOU FEAR THE UNKNOWN?

Greetings everyone!

It's Candy with another wild and crazy project using some of Andy's new Illusionary Artists stamp sets teamed with Andy's line of DecoArt Media products. 

This time, I was experimenting with some new stamps and playing with colors and textures.   This 6'x6" canvas is packed full of images creating a creepy sort of ghoulish scene with an already familiar gargoyle-ish figure I affectionately refer to as "Gary the Gargoyle".  He was actually the inspiration for this canvas!

I began by first washing a piece of watercolor paper with a combination of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Medium Grey Value 6, Dark Grey Value 3 and water.  (I also used this combination around the sides of the canvas).  Then I brayered DecoArt's Media Black Gesso over this lovely new 6" x 6" Stampendous background stamp.  After it was dry, I tore around the edges and glued it onto the canvas using DecoArt Media Matte Medium.  Using Permanent Black Ink, I stamped the skulls from Andy's new Spook Illusionary Stamp Set around all of the sides of the canvas and feathered the edges with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Carbon Black and touches of Metallic Gold.

Gary the Gargoyle is such a cute little guy ... if gargoyles can be cute. I first brushed DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Green Gold onto a piece of stamping paper.  When dry, I used Permanent Black Ink to stamp Gary in place.  I then heat set him, added the shading using DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Viridian and painted his pitchfork Metallic Silver. I backed him with study cardstock and cut him out.  He was later glued onto the canvas with Adhesive Pop Dots as were several other pieces to give this canvas a lot of dimension.

I have never been a fan of Ouija Boards.  But I have to say that I love this stamp from Andy's Illusionary Artists Spook Stamp Set.  I washed a piece of stamping paper with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Raw Sienna followed by Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide and touches of Quinacridone Gold; creating an almost woodgrain effect. The image is stamped with Black Permanent Ink.  After heat setting it, I cut it out and rounded the corners with a 1/4" corner punch. Next I added Carbon Black paint to the edges using my finger. I love the way this turned out!  I actually looks like a miniature Ouija Board!

Time to experiment with textures and doing what Andy does so well ... making things look REAL that are not!

I washed a couple of pieces of dictionary paper with DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Metallic Silver and Gold mixed with water.  Then I stamped the crosses from Andy's Illusionary Artists Gothic Stamp Set onto the paper using Embossing Ink and a granular embossing powder; a dark brown on the gold and a black on the silver.  Once heat set, they already had a gritty, pitted feeling. I loved that!

To mimic that very eerie mossy look on old tombstones, I mixed DecoArt Media Texture Sand Paste with a touch of DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Green Gold.  I used a very small brush to randomly add the "moss" to the crosses.  Next I sparingly sprinkled bits of a gritty embossing powder in a mossy green color.  I heat set all of this and the results are very cool and won't flake off.

Then I started gluing everything in place on the canvas with Adhesive Pop Dots.  Here you have a more closeup look at the moss.  I love the color, the texture and the depth it adds to this piece.

As a finishing touch, I added some tree trash from a river birch tree in my yard, I painted the twigs white using DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Titanium White and added little torn strips of vintage netting among the "trees" gracing either side of the graveyard canvas.

"Fear THE UNKNOWN" conveniently sits side by side on Andy's new Illusiionary Artists Word Up Stamp Set and it worked perfectly for this canvas! I stamped the words onto a piece of paper using Black Permanent Ink and matted it on black chipboard then glued it in place.

Stay Positive

Hi Everyone - Brenda here with some small journal panels. I can remember a few years back when some friends and I made Positivity Journals and I have been feeling lately we really should keep with the philosophy that we need to stay constructive and confident and be optimistic and helpful in this world and demonstrate this in our art. So whilst making myself an altered book for a Vintage Journal I decided to also make a new Positivity Journal and here are my first two entries.

I have used Andy's stamps and stencils on both and DecoArt media acrylics and mediums plus a die-cut stars and Andy's cogs left over from one of his workshops I did.

I have added the recipe over on my blog and followed it for both of these panels which shows how you can make multiple projects from one set of process steps. You can find them over at Bumblebees and Butterflies if you'd like to see how I brought them together.

Sacred Secrets with patina effect by Monika Maksym

Hi! 
It's Monika here with my latest project.  This time I've decided to show you the latest kit designed by Andy and made by Tando Creative. This set comes with many elements, you can use them all in one project or separate them like I did. 

I start with painting each element with tinting base which works great as a primer. Then industrial wings were covered with modelling paste to create rough texture and painted black along with cog and bolts. I've also used antiquing cream as it helps to accent the lovely texture. Then I've rubbed on a little bit of metallic lustre wax. The frame was painted with crackle paint and sliglthy aged with antiquing cream and a black paint. 

On the main piece that was painted in black first I've used weathered wood medium and grey paint on top. To add more character to it I've added a washes of media acrylic fluids, streaks and splatters of paint. Then a word was stamped on it. Little heart was painted with turquoise paint, liquid glass and some micro beads were added on then I've rubbed some metallic lustre wax on the little frame and top crown.
