Two Way Mixed Media Canvas by Phoebe Tonosaki

Hello friends, 

Phoebe is here to share a simple shabby chic canvas

using just a few items that you very possibility will have in your stash.

We all want the complete set of yummy products from the catalog but 

unfortunately the reality is always against it.

So when we pick up our medium, even though we may have limited colors,

we still can do a beautiful gorgeous piece with it.

 
I used the new Andy Skinner Tando  Compendium kit for the texture

On the top I painted with Americana Chalky finish paint.
This product give a very vintage distressed atmosphere just simply by

painting in on !

When I am sure the position is right,
I stamped with the Andy Skinner Stampendous sets 

After that, I used the fluid acrylic wash technique only

using two colors . It can be any colors that you have on hand.

This project, I do not want to paint all over the surface, 

instead, I emphasized on the corners,
on where the texture stays the most.

I wanted to create a two way look. So I put some embellishments on the 

different angle as well.

The final touch is to use Fluid acrylic Carbon black to highlight

here and there.

Lastly, I used the  Metallic Lustre to add up a bit sheen

so the piece is not too dull.

It was a simple but satisfying project.

Altered Tablet Case by Phoebe Tonosaki

hello guys, today I am going to show you an altered Tablet case using the gorgeous Andy new stamp and the wonderful DecoArt Media Misters.

My Tablet cover had been all dirty after my gesso-dirty hands touched it all over in my workshops. Hub was complaining how ugly and embarrassing it was and I decided I should alter it to make it better.

I primed the surface with a thin coat of DecoArt Gesso. and then I started using DecoArt Media Misters to spray on the surface repeatedly on random area.

You can see what colors of the Misters I have used on the end of this post. Any colors will make it super beautiful, you only need to have the basic color chart in your mind (eg red+blue = purple, yellow+blue=green) because the misters are highly interactive and they make amazing, out of the world beautiful colors for your creation.

After putting on the colors, the whole surface was very very bright. I could take it as it was but I wanted it to be a tone lighter. So I applied a small amount of DecoArt Media Shimmer Misters White to do the job.

On the top of the Misters, I used the latest Andy Skinner stamp sets fm Illusionary Artists and stamped them with the white color Staz On on the surface.

I used the Tech Trauma set as the main as I really like the designs !

Final step we cannot forget is to add two coats of DecoArt Media  Soft Touch  Varnish after the misters has completely dried. As the tablet will be carried and used in outdoors, you dont want it to stain the table cloth when you are having dinner with your friends !! :D

Ancient Jungle Drawer with Andy Skinner kit manufactured by Tando Creative

Hello all, today is Phoebe here to show you an altered drawer using the new Andy Skinner kit manufactured by Tando Creative, Compendium.

This gorgeous and very versatile kit will soon be in store. Stay tuned at Tando !

I used the biggest gear from the kit to create the main focal point of this piece. One of the greatest things of Tando 's greyboard is that, they are thick enough but also very flexible. I only needed to spray a little bit water and then it bent easily to fit the shape of the drawer.

There are many different shapes of parts in different details of the kit. I kept most of them as they are. I enjoyed using the negative part of the kit (the left over after you cut the parts out from the kit) as the background, and also a few here and there adding to the whole build up.

After putting DecoArt Media Texture Sand Paste on random areas of the whole piece, I coloured the piece using the colours listed below. Remember to use only small amount of paint when putting them on the surface. If you feel it is too heavy, spray with water or lightly pad with tissue and then add more layers until you are happy with it.

I used Andy 's new Illusionary Artists stamp set for the name plate.

The crackle is made with DecoArt Weathered Wood.

 Since this is a square shaped box, so basically it can shrift to another direction depend on which way you want to see it.

Rusty vintage telephone by Phoebe Tonosaki

Hello all, this is Phoebe here to share an altered art project with you.

I found a vintage style telephone with a tiny drawer in the new year holiday and I immediately knew that this will be what I work for the first project for Andy.

I painted the whole surface with gesso, clear gesso (for the phone handle) and crackle paint. I waited a whole day for the crackle to dry naturally.

 then I covered the crackle parts with Antiquing cream Carbon Black/Raw Umber. After it had dried, I removed them slightly with a baby wipe. The phone handle itself was covered in brown wooden and the base color looks perfect with the crackles highlighted by the Antiquing cream.

I stamped using Andy's new released Spook Stamp Set by Illusionary Artists and punched it to glue on the phone handle, to indicate the coming call is from the character.

I also used several packs of Andy' stamp from Stampdenous with Staz On opaque white on the surface of the phone.

You can zoom in to the above photo and see the rusty crackles I have made.

after using the Antiquing cream as stated above, I painted with Fluid Acrylics Pyrrole Red/Raw Sienna/Carbon Black. I used layers and layers of every color and also combined the three colors with different ratio. The key is to paint them a little by little with thin coats and keep doing it until you are satisfied.

After that, on the few points I want to emphasize, I added sand ( can be any sand) to the Fluid Acrylics. Remember to use an old brush that is almost ready to throw away because painting with sand will badly damage your brush. You can also use a palette knife to put them onto the surface.
